Professional Recognition and Honours/Awards (Teams) International • Dr Victor Leung Yu-leong and his team (Orthopaedics and Traumatology, SClinMed) won the Best Poster Presentation Award at the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society Asia-Pacific Chapter Conference (TERMIS-AP) 2022. • Dr Ng Ming-yen and Dr Varut Vardhanabhuti (Diagnostic Radiology, SClinMed) were ranked among the top 10 finalists of the 2023 EdX Prize for Innovation in Online Teaching for their course ‘Advanced Cardiac Imaging’ in September 2023. National • Dr Hu Yong (Orthopaedics and Traumatology, SClinMed) and his team were awarded Champion of the Steady-State Visual Evoked Potential (SSVEP) contest ( 騰訊雲杯「技術賽SSVEP 賽項第一名」) from the 2023 World Robot Contest (WRC) in August 2023. • Dr Loey Mak Lung-yi (Medicine, SClinMed) and team were awarded the Top 10 Original Research Articles in Portal Hypertension and Cirrhosis 2022（2022年度中國門脈高壓與 肝硬化十大原創研究）by Chinese Portal Hypertension Alliance (CHESS中國門靜脈高壓聯盟) in July 2023 for the paper ‘Glycemic burden and the risk of adverse hepatic outcomes in patients with chronic hepatitis B with type 2 diabetes’ published in Hepatology. • Dr Michael To Kai-tsun (Orthopaedics and Traumatology, SClinMed) and his multidisciplinary Osteogenesis Imperfecta team at HKU-Shenzhen Hospital received the Golden Snail Award 2023 for Medical or Scientific Achievement. His team also received an award in the first ‘ 閏笛杯’ of the National Rare Disease Education Video Competition 2023. Local Extramural • Professor Christopher Leung Kai-shun and Dr Alexander Lam Ka-ngai (Ophthalmology, SClinMed) were awarded Outstanding Glaucoma Artificial Intelligence Diagnostic Platform for their startup, AIROTA Diagnostics Limited, by ETNet in September 2023.
