Local Extramural • Professor Guan Xin-yuan (Clinical Oncology, CancerMed, SClinMed) was granted HK$62.971M under the Themebased Research Scheme 2023/24 (Thirteenth Round) of the Research Grants Council for the project ‘Investigation of the Immunosuppressive Microenvironment in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma’. • Professor Benjamin John Cowling (Public Health) was granted HK$30.06M under the Strategic Topics Grant 2023/24 of the Research Grants Council for the project ‘Improving Pandemic Preparedness by Reflecting on Experiences in the COVID-19 Pandemic from Different Perspectives’. • Professor Christopher Leung Kai-shun (Ophthalmology, SClinMed), in collaboration with Orbis, received HK$10M from Ling Charitable Foundation Limited for glaucoma research programmes and the project ‘Vision Matters: Glaucoma AIROTA Screening Project for 50+’ in 2023.
