Local Extramural • The following Faculty members received major awards at the 42nd Annual Congress of the Hong Kong Orthopaedic Association (HKOA) in November 2022: – Dr Steve Cheung Man-hong (Orthopaedics and Traumatology, SClinMed) – AR Hodgson Award for the paper ‘Beta-Lactam Antibiotic Allergy is a newly identified, independent and treatable risk factor for periprosthetic joint infection following TKA: a 28-year retrospective cohort study of 4800 cases’. – Dr Prudence Cheung Wing-hang (Orthopaedics and Traumatology, SClinMed) – The Best Paper Award for Associate Member for the paper ‘Immediate versus gradual brace weaning in the clinical management of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis – a randomized controlled trial’. – Dr Kenny Kwan Yat-hong (Orthopaedics and Traumatology, SClinMed) – Arthur Yau Award for the paper ‘Lycium barbarum extract can enhance functional recovery after decompression in a preclinical rat model of cervical spondylotic myelopathy’. • Dr Chan Kai-tai (Psychiatry, SClinMed) was elected as Honorary Treasurer of the Hong Kong College of Psychiatrists in December 2022. • Professor Daniel Chan Tak-mao (Medicine, SClinMed) was elected President of the Hong Kong College of Physicians in October 2022. • Dr Will Chan Yap-hang (Medicine, SClinMed) won the Best Cardiovascular Medicine Paper Award at the 30th Annual Scientific Congress of Hong Kong College of Cardiology in 2022. He was also selected as the recipient of the Sir David Todd Memorial Scholarship by the Hong Kong College of Physicians for overseas training at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, The University of Cambridge, in 2023. 48
