Local Extramural • The following colleagues received the Prize for Best Original Research by Young Fellows from the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine in December 2023: Gold Medal – Professor Chiang Chi-leung (Clinical Oncology, CancerMed, SClinMed) Research Title: Sequential transarterial chemoembolisation and stereotactic body radiotherapy followed by immunotherapy as conversion therapy for patients with locally advanced, unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (START-FIT): a single-arm, phase 2 trial. Bronze Medal – Professor Jason Cheung Pui-yin (Orthopaedics and Traumatology, SClinMed) Research Title: The utility of a novel proximal femur maturity index for staging skeletal growth in patients with idiopathic scoliosis. • The following colleagues were awarded the Distinguished Research Paper Award for Young Investigators 2023 by the Hong Kong College of Physicians in October 2023: – Professor David Lui Tak-wai (Medicine, SClinMed) – Professor Loey Mak Lung-yi (Medicine, SClinMed) – Professor Pauline Yeung Pui-ning (Critical Care Medicine Unit, SClinMed) • Professor Karen Chan Kar-loen (Obstetrics and Gynaecology, SClinMed) was appointed as Co-Convenor of the Advisory Group on Hong Kong Reference Framework for Woman Health in Primary Care Settings, Health Bureau, HKSAR, from 2023 to 2025. 41
