Professor Leo Poon
Associate Dean (Human Capital)

Describe your role

I assist the Dean to develop and implement human capital strategies and policies.

What are your primary responsibilities in this role?

I'm responsible for staff recruitment, retention, professional development and well-being. I work to ensure all colleagues across HKUMed are happy with their working environment.

What's your vision in this new position?

I want to provide a supportive and positive work environment for all of our colleagues. We want them to be happy so that we can have enough critical mass to move things forward.

I want to give local colleagues and those from overseas the tools to continue to make an impact on our students, patients and science.

Professor Kelvin To
Assistant Dean (Academic Development)

Describe your role

As Assistant Dean in Academic Development, my main roles are staff recruitment and staff development.

What are your primary responsibilities in this role?

For staff recruitment, our goal is to recruit the best global talent so HKUMed can continue to produce world-class research, and importantly, provide the best teachers for our students across all disciplines.

For staff development, we want to cultivate a very positive and supportive environment for our staff to engage in their research and to enable them to be good teachers.

What's your vision in this new position?

My vision is for HKUMed to be home to the best healthcare researchers and the best educators for the next generation of clinicians and scientists.

Professor Chang Wing-chung
Assistant Dean (Well-being)

Describe your role

My role is to promote awareness of both physical and mental well-being among the Faculty's staff. And to support staff so that they can work more harmoniously and more effectively at all levels.

What are your primary responsibilities in this role?

To develop and design programmes, both those that are Faculty-wide or more targeted, to support staff to improve or maintain their well-being.

And to align our work with the Faculty's "People First" initiative as staff well-being is core to this goal.

What's your vision in this new position?

This is a new focus for the Sub-Deanery, so we will consider how to develop useful programmes for staff while considering how these can be integrated into their schedules for them to learn how to improve their well-being.

Healthcare is a competitive field, so it's important for colleagues to be aware of their health and to support one another.

Professor Parco Siu
Assistant Dean (Well-being)

Describe your role

I support the planning and implementation of well-being initiatives and programmes that aim to enhance the well-being of HKUMed staff.

What are your primary responsibilities in this role?

My role is to advocate and oversee matters relating to staff well-being. And to foster a positive and supportive work culture and environment at HKUMed that prioritises the promotion of staff well-being.

What's your vision in this new position?

I hope to encourage my colleagues to be more aware of the importance of well-being. I believe the concept of well-being is very wide, it's not just work, it includes your personal life, family life and social life.

I want to empower colleagues to develop their own effective ways to maintain and enhance their well-being while enjoying working at HKUMed.
