On 24 November 2022, HKU-Pasteur Research Pole and the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau co-organised a seminar on ‘Zoonotic Diseases and Climate Change’ at the HKUMed campus, aiming to addressing the key issues that climate change has brought to zoonotic viruses and their recent expansion. Dr Nolwenn Jouvenet from the Institut Pasteur joined virtually and delivered a keynote speech, followed by a roundtable discussion with local experts from the School of Public Health. They are Dr Vijay Dhanasekaran, Dr Linwei Tian (田林瑋) and Dr Tommy Lam (林讚育), Associate Professors; Dr Wong Sook-san (黄淑珊), Assistant Professor; and Dr Tun Hein-min (黃世萬), Associate Professor from the Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The seminar was joined by 110 people attending online and in person.

As part of the Louis Pasteur bicentenary celebrations and the French Science Festival 2022, the HKU-Pasteur Research Pole and the Centre for Immunology & Infection (C2i) presented the exhibition ‘From Louis to Pasteur, 1822-1895’. Set up by the Institut Pasteur and with the support of the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau, the exhibition was first held at the medical campus from 10 to 25 November 2022, then at the French International School from late November 2022 to mid-December 2022, and the Science Park in January 2023.

Laboratory visits to the HKU-Pasteur laboratory were also arranged for students from the French International School and Munsang College in 22 November 2022 and 9 February 2023, respectively. They were introduced to the daily life of a researcher and shown around the work that is being done at HKU-Pasteur regarding influenza and coronaviruses.

On 10 March 2023, a seminar on the ‘Responsiveness to SARS-CoV-2 Pandemic and Preparedness to Future Arbovirus Outbreak’ was held at the medical campus, with Dr Dimitri Lavillette from Institut Pasteur Korea invited as speaker of the seminar.
