The first cohort of the BASc Global Health and Development (GHD) programme undertook their placements from June to December 2022. Sixteen students were placed in twelve organisations in seven cities around the world. Placement sites included intergovernmental organisations such as the UN Headquarters in New York, UNICEF and UNDP offices in New York and Istanbul, humanitarian and global health organisations included the IFRC in Geneva, CMB in Bangkok, and other NGOs/organisations in Thailand, Singapore, Taipei, and Hong Kong. From compiling global level data and policy reports, to working at the interface of international and national policy formulation, exploring the role of the private sector and innovative technology, and working with NGOs to improve the lives of people in need, the first cohort of GHD students have truly reflected the breadth and depth of global health and development in the 21st century.
