From 31 July to 11 August 2023, The University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital organised the Greater Bay Area Medical Summer Camp 2023. A total of 50 outstanding secondary school students from Hong Kong, Macau and Mainland China participated in this summer medical experience camp, which took them deep into the hospital's Emergency Department, outpatient clinics, operating theatres, and various specialties, where they communicated face-to-face with healthcare professionals and patients, and visited the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine of The University of Hong Kong.
The event has received supports from Health Bureau of HKSAR Government and Health Commission of Shenzhen Municipality. Professor Lo Chung-mau (盧寵茂), Secretary for Health of the HKSAR government, and Mr Li Chuang, Deputy Director of Shenzhen Health Commission, attended the event. ‘The HKSAR Government has been actively promoting medical exchange and cooperation between the mainland and Hong Kong at different levels. The GBA medical camp is precisely a good example,’ remarked Professor Lo at the opening ceremony.
