The Hong Kong Medical Forum (HKMF) is an annual event organised by Department of Medicine, School of Clinical Medicine and Queen Mary Hospital. The objective of the HKMF is for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) of different disciplines and subspecialties, through state-of-the-art lectures by local and overseas speakers who are distinguished specialists in their respective fields. The target audience includes general practitioners, family and specialist physicians, clinicians of other specialties, basic and higher physician trainees, nurses, allied health professionals and medical students. This year’s theme was ‘Safeguarding Human Health for a Century and Beyond’ and topics of different subspecialties and disciplines were covered.

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Department of Medicine, a kick-off ceremony for the Department’s Centennial Celebrations cum opening of the 27th Medical Forum (HKMF) was held on May 13, 2023 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. It was our great honour that the Chief Executive of HKSAR, the Hon John Lee Ka-chiu (李家超), and Professor Lo Chung-mau (盧寵茂), Secretary for Health of HKSAR joined us as our honourable guests to grace the event. The presence of other officiating guests, including Ms Priscilla Wong Pui-sze (王沛詩) (Council Chairman, HKU), Prof Chak-sing Lau (劉澤星) (Dean of Medicine, HKU), Prof Rosie Young (楊紫芝) (Emeritus Professor, HKU), Mr Henry Fan Hung-ling (范鴻齡) (Chairman, Hospital Authority), Dr Tony Ko Pat-sing (高拔陞) (Chief Executive, Hospital Authority), Dr Theresa Li Tak-lai (李德麗)(Cluster Chief Executive, Hong Kong West Cluster, Hospital Authority) etc. had added significance to this momentous occasion. Over 2,500 participants, mainly included general practitioners, family and specialist physicians, clinicians of other specialties, basic and higher physician trainees, nurses, allied health professionals and medical students had joined the 2-day physical event.
