Dr Chan joined the Department of Anaesthesiology, School of Clinical Medicine in August 2023 as Clinical Associate Professor of Practice. He graduated in HKU in 1992 and has accumulated 30 years of experience in clinical anaesthesiology. Dr Chan was one of HKU’s pioneers who helped Shenzhen to develop contemporary clinical anaesthesiology services at the HKU-Shenzhen Hospital (HKU-SZH). Now Dr Chan serves as anaesthesiology Department Chief in HKU-SZH. He has established the first HKU postgraduate anaesthesiology training centre in HKU-SZH since 2018 and has already trained 18 doctors from mainland China. His clinical expertise is in airway management, perioperative echocardiography and ultrasound regional anaesthesia and cardiothoracic anaesthesia. His academic interests are in medical training and education. 

Dr Siu joined the Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, School of Clinical Medicine in July 2023 as Clinical Associate Professor of Practice. She subspecialised in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine and received Paediatric Pulmonology training in Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Ohio, the United States. She runs the Ventilator-Assisted Children Program and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program and attends Asthma clinics with special interest in children with difficult-to-treat asthma and preschool wheeze.  She also looks after children with rare lung diseases (e.g. cystic fibrosis, primary ciliary dyskinesia and non-CF bronchiectasis). She leads the respiratory assessment and monitoring of SMA children receiving Disease Modifying Agents in Hong Kong and is active in teaching doctors and the general public on diseases related to respiratory medicine. Her research interests include preschool wheeze and asthma, ventilator-assisted children, sleep disordered breathing in neuromuscular disorders and ciliary diseases. 

 

 

Dr Chiu joined the Department of Clinical Oncology, Centre of Cancer Medicine, School of Clinical Medicine in September 2023 as Clinical Assistant Professor. He graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2008 and completed his higher medical, as well as specialty training in London (UK). He received MRCP accreditation from the Royal College of Physicians in 2011 and obtained his Royal College of Radiologist fellowship in Clinical Oncology in 2016. Dr Chiu was awarded a CRUK Clinical Fellowship in 2017 and obtained his PhD at the University of London in 2021. His research interests include novel radiotherapy and immunotherapy combinations and early phase clinical trials across difference tumour sites. 

Dr Lau joined the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, School of Clinical Medicine in September 2023 as Clinical Assistant Professor. Dr Lau graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2014. He completed the Joint Specialty Fellowship Examination in 2021 by the Hong Kong College of Orthopaedic Surgeons and Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and obtained his fellowship from Hong Kong College of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Hong Kong Academy of Medicine. He works as an orthopaedic surgeon in Queen Mary Hospital and is dedicated to delivering good care and teaching. He has special interests in arthritis and joint replacement.  

Outside of work, Dr Lau enjoys playing football and botany. 

Dr Pang joined the Division of Urological Surgery, Department of Surgery, School of Clinical Medicine in June 2023 as Clinical Assistant Professor. He is an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the Division of Surgery and Interventional Science, University College London, UK.

Dr Pang obtained his MBChB from the University of Glasgow in 2009 and his Clinical BSc in Immunobiology from King's College London in 2007. He undertook surgical training in the UK including Oxford, London, Sheffield and Leeds University teaching hospitals. He obtained a MSc in Clinical Research with distinction in 2014 and a PhD in Prostate Cancer in 2018 from the University of Sheffield. He undertook fellowship training in Andrology at The University College London Hospitals and has received around £200,000 of funding from the Royal College of Surgeons (UK) and The Urology Foundation Trust to conduct research. Dr Pang is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (UK) and European Board of Urology. His research interests include mechanism and progression of Urological Cancer and men's sexual and reproductive Health.

Dr See joined the Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, School of Clinical Medicine in October 2023 as Clinical Assistant Professor of Practice. She graduated with an MBBS degree from the University of Hong Kong in 2009. She then obtained her Diploma of Child Health (DCH) and Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH) of the United Kingdom in 2013. She completed her paediatric specialist training in 2017 and has been working as an Associate Consultant in Queen Mary Hospital since 2018. Dr See went on to pursue further training in Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London in 2020 and obtained her subspecialty fellowship in Paediatric Endocrinology in 2022. She is currently the council member of the Hong Kong Society of Paediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism and the honorary medical advisor of the Youth Diabetic Action. Dr See has a special interest in the study of obesity.

Dr Wang joined the School of Biomedical Sciences in September 2023 as Assistant Professor. He received his Bioengineering BSc from Jilin Agricultural University in 2010, MSc degree from Jilin University in 2013, and completed his PhD work at University of Paris-Saclay in 2017. After receiving his PhD degree, he worked as Postdoctoral Fellow at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, USA. His current research focuses on microglia functions in neurodegenerative disease, immunotherapy and translational medicine, as well as cell signaling.
