The 26th Medical Research Conference was held virtually on 16 January 2021, and chaired by Professor Seto Wai-kay (司徒偉基). This year's theme was "Interdisciplinary Integration". Apropos of the theme, speakers from a wide variety of disciplines, schools and universities were invited to share their expertise. Distinguished researcher, Professor Nancy Ip Yuk-yu (葉玉如), Vice-President for Research and Development, Morningside Professor of Life Science and Director of the State Key Laboratory of Molecular Neuroscience, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, gave the plenary lecture on Alzheimer's disease. Dr Gilman Siu Kit-hang (蕭傑恒), Department of Health Technology and Informatics, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, presented on high-throughput sequencing in clinical microbiology. Fifteen prominent international speakers spoke on wide-ranging topics such as artificial intelligence, clinical trial design, drug delivery, and the gut microbiome. Over 650 participants from across 13 countries attended the virtual conference, which was considered a rousing success.
