The first in the series of BASc Global Health and Development (GHD) Student Webinars took place on 3 March 2021. The topic was the Myanmar coup amid COVID-19 pandemic and the webinar drew over 70 students, education practitioners, and scholars worldwide.

The webinar was well-received, particularly surpassing expectations for international attendees. Attendees were impressed by the insights of our two Myanmar scholars, Dr Tun Hein-min (黃世萬) and Dr Phyu-phyu Thin Zaw. The scholars discussed the short and long-term consequences of the recent military coup on Myanmar's health system, as well as broader regional implications. Towards the end of the webinar, the speakers highlighted how BASc (GHD) graduates can contribute to alleviating global health crises that transcend national and professional boundaries.
