The HKU-Pasteur Research Pole (HKU-PRP) celebrated its 20th anniversary with a series of events, including workshops, educational events, a fellowship programme, publications, and exhibitions. The opening ceremony for the year of celebrations was officiated by the Hon Mrs Carrie Lam Yuet-ngor (林鄭月娥), Chief Executive of the HKSAR Government, and Mr Alexandre Giorgini (官明遠), Consul General of France in Hong Kong and Macau, on October 21, 2020 at the HKUMed campus.

In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, a seminar entitled "Dangerous Liaisons: Emerging Viruses at the Human, Animal and Environmental Interface" was held on 24 and 25 February 2021. Local and international experts with diverse scientific perspectives gathered to discuss the pressing topics of emerging viruses and their interactions within diverse environments. The seminar also covered potential next steps for research in the field.

In March 2021, HKU-PRP collaborated with the French International School (FIS) of Hong Kong to organise several educational events. Students visited HKU-PRP's laboratory and had the opportunity to interview Professor Leo Poon Lit-man (潘烈文), Co-Director of HKU-PRP, and other researchers, about their work as scientists.

On 12 to 26 April 2021 the school presented a touring exhibition at the HKU Centennial Campus. It featured highlights of ground-breaking research conducted at HKU-PRP over the past 20 years. For anyone who missed it in April, the exhibition will be at the Hong Kong Science Park during summer 2021 and then the HKUMed campus in fall 2021.

HKU-PRP has also launched the "HKU‐Pasteur Research Pole Fellowship" programme, which offers grants to postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows in Hong Kong and Macau. These grants enable will recipients to undertake 2- to 3-month research internships at the Institut Pasteur in Paris, France.

To complement the celebratory events and programmes the HKU-PRP published commemorative anniversary booklet. The booklet highlighted HKU-PRP's achievements and people who have contributed to its mission over the last two decades.
