The 9th Cross Straits Children Oncology Meeting & The 3rd Asia Neuroblastoma Meeting

The Cross Straits Children Oncology Meeting is a biannual meeting held across the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. It aims to share deep knowledge of paediatric oncological patients' surgical treatment and cultivate professional relationships among surgeons with shared areas of interest. As per social distancing requirements, the meeting was hosted virtually by the Division of Paediatric Surgery, Department of Surgery on 28 November 2020. The 3rd Asian Neuroblastoma Meeting was held jointly with support from The Hong Kong Paediatric Haematology and Oncology Study Group.

In addition to from experts from the Mainland, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, several internationally renowned speakers were invited, including Professor Cheung Nai-kong (張乃光), Professor Alice Yu Lin-tsing (陳鈴津), and Professor Akira Nakagawara (中川原章) from the United States and Japan. They shared the latest developments in immunotherapy and molecular treatments of paediatric neuroblastomas, which have increased the survival rates significantly.

The event included a celebration of Professor Zhang Jin-zhe (張金哲) 's 100th birthday. Professor Zhang, a trailblazer and leader in Paediatric Surgery in China, shared the insights he has gained throughout his work. The 300 attendees were grateful to learn from his experiences and celebrate a milestone in such an illustrious medical career.
