The biannual Hong Kong Surgical Forum (HKSF) was held virtually for the first time on 15 January 2021. Innovation and technology have become integral across all specialities in surgery, and the HKSF 2021 provided a platform to showcase such state-of-the-art developments. Experts in different specialities brought exciting topics to the Forum, including robotic breast and colorectal surgery, indocyanine green fluorescence image-guided surgery, and locoregional cancer treatment. A record-breaking global audience of over 900 participants for the one-day virtual meeting provided an impetus for change in format for future HKSF meetings.
