05 December 2020

The Online Inauguration Ceremony of the 130 Mentorship Programme held on 5 December 2020 marks the official opening of this meaningful 2-year programme for its second cohort (2019-2021). Nearly 60 mentors and mentees participated online and enjoyed a wonderful afternoon with vibrant conversations and interactions.

The 130 Mentorship Programme was set up in celebration of the 130 Years of Medicine in Hong Kong in 2017. The programme, which aims to provide knowledge exchange and facilitate cross-generation communication between current students and recent graduates together with senior alumni members of HKUMed, was steered by The University of Hong Kong Medical Alumni Association (HKUMAA) and overseen by its 130 Mentorship Subcommittee.

The ceremony was officiated by the President of HKUMAA, Dr Matthew Tsui, followed by the opening speech of Programme Co-chairmen, Dr Libby Lee and Dr Kevin Lau, who gave an introduction of the programme’s objectives and expectations. Two recurring mentors Dr Martin Wong and Dr Charles Ng also shared their experience and tips on building a strong mentor-mentee relationship.
