Croucher Conference: Advance Big Data Research for Improving Health in Hong Kong

Over 180 participants joined our Croucher conference online, entitled ‘Advance Big Data Research for Improving Health in Hong Kong’ held online. Professor Soko Setoguchi kickstarted our conference with her sharing on her work in using big data in understanding climate change and health in the United States and Asia. Local speakers, Dr Zhang Qingpeng (張清鵬)and Dr Esther Chan Wai-yin (陳慧賢) shared their experience in using big data modeling to mitigate COVID-19 pandemic and using data from Hospital Authority for patient safety research. Professor Helga Zoega, Professor Li Wei and Dr Martijn Schuemie also shared their experience in utilising big data analytics in guiding clinical decision making and public health initiatives from a Nordic, UK and global perspective respectively. It was followed by an inspiring panel discussion with our speakers, joined by our academic representative, Dr Celine Chui (徐詩鈴)and our local industry representative, Mr Lawrence Wong (黃國佳), regarding how different stakeholders can collaborate to improve health using big data analytics across different settings (academic, clinical, industry) and geographical regions.
