Hong Kong's first-ever Exoskeleton Paraplegic Walkathon was successfully held on 16 October 2021 morning, which is a part of the ‘Get Up and Walk’ programme. The event featured four paraplegic patients, Mr Hansen Lee, Ms Rabi Yim, Mr Ting Hoi Cheung and Mr Lai Chi-wai. They utilized robotic exoskeletons to complete a 1-hour relay race at four different communities in Hong Kong. The event was live on Department's Facebook page where great support was gained. The fund raised from this event will be used for supporting clinical and rehabilitation services and research projects in relation to spinal injuries. The Department will purchase different kinds of exoskeletons for paraplegic patients, initiate our own research to turn the exoskeletons into better fits of Asian physique and in the environment of Hong Kong.

Exoskeleton Hands-on Workshop was held on 16 October 2021 afternoon at Laboratory Block. Over 40 physicians and allied health staff joined the workshop, in which they had the opportunity to rotate to four workshop stations for exoskeleton demonstration.
