Dr Chung joined the School of Public Health as Clinical Associate Professor of Practice in July 2021. He was a King Edward VII scholar graduated from The University of Hong Kong. His training started from Paediatrics and later became a specialist in Community Medicine, with two gold medals awarded for the ‘Prize for Best Original Research by Trainees (BORT)’ of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine. He is an experienced trainer and examiner for the Hong Kong College of Community Medicine and the UK Faculty of Public Health.

One of his main focuses is infectious diseases. He has hands-on experiences from the Hong Kong Department of Health and the World Health Organization in Geneva. He seated the first cohort of the Field Epidemiology Training Programme in Hong Kong and the planning team for drills related to outbreaks and the Public Health Information System. Before returning to HKUMed, he served in another University and was elected as the Teacher of the Year Award (Public Health) in the year 2020 and 2021.

Dr Pang joined the Faculty in July 2021 as Clinical Associate Professor of Practice. He has double fellowship of the Hong Kong College of Community Medicine and Hong Kong College of Physicians specializing in geriatric medicine particularly in dementia management. He is also a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators.

Before joining HKUMed, Dr Pang was the Head of Human Resources of the Hospital Authority to provide strategic advice and leadership to the HR function of public hospitals. Prior to this role, he was the Hospital Chief Executive of the Grantham Hospital and Tung Wah Hospital and had worked in various roles at HA Head Office as Chief Manager of Cluster Services Division and Quality and Safety Division at Head Office. Dr Pang has over 15 years of executive experience in healthcare management with master degree in business administration. He has special interest in quality system and medical training of healthcare institutions.

Currently, he is the censor of the Administrative Medicine Sub-specialty Board of the Hong Kong College of Community Medicine. He is appointed as assessor of the Australian Council of Healthcare Standards and has working experience for Aged Care in Australia. He was a member of Elderly Commission of HKSAR government.

Dr Chan joined the Department of Medicine as Clinical Assistant Professor of Practice in July 2021. Dr Chan obtained his science and medical degree from The University of New South Wales, Australia and completed his nephrology and general medicine training in Westmead Hospital and Liverpool Hospital in Sydney, Australia. He obtained his fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

Prior to his return to Hong Kong, he was clinical fellow of nephrology at the Imperial College Renal and Transplant Centre at Hammersmith Hospital at London, United Kingdom and he was working as resident specialist of the Department of Medicine and Geriatrics at Caritas Medical Centre before joining HKUMed. His current research interests include big data analysis and application in chronic kidney disease and application of regenerative medicine chronic kidney disease.

Dr Chew joined the Department of Anaesthesiology as Clinical Assistant Professor of Practice in September 2021.  He obtained his Bachelor's degree from Monash University in Melbourne and has been trained in anaesthesia in Brisbane, Australia. He has previously had an appointment with the University of Queensland and currently is involved with an education working group with the Australia and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.

Dr Gearin, PhD, joined the Medical Ethics and Humanities Unit as Assistant Professor in August 2021. Dr Gearin is an Australian medical anthropologist with a background researching diverse psychedelic substance using communities in remote Peru, urban China, and metropolitan Australia.

Graduated from the University of Queensland in 2015, he has published works in top social science journals on the topics of indigenous medicine in modern society, the intercultural ethics of medical tourism, secularism and spirituality in alternative medicine, and the globalization of indigenous medicines. His work has been published in Current Anthropology, Social Science and Medicine, The Journal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, and other leading outlets, and he is co-editor of The World Ayahuasca Diaspora: Controversies and Reinventions (Routledge). Alex is a passionate teacher and has delivered courses and workshops on cross-cultural health, happiness and well-being, bias and social justice in medicine, gift economies and personhood, and indigenous health in the modern world.

Dr Ma joined the Department of Pathology as Assistant Professor in September 2021. Before joining HKUMed, Dr Ma received his PhD and post-doctoral training from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. His current research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanism of the initiation and progression of liver cancer. In particular, employing the system composing of inducible degron, CRISPR, and transposon in generating isogenic pair of liver cancer cell lines for the investigation. His research interests also include how the interaction of HBV and host cell factors affect each other.

Dr Wong joined the Department of Surgery as Clinical Assistant Professor of Practice in September 2021. She graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2010 and received her training in otolaryngology in the New Territories West Cluster of Hospital Authority. Dr Wong obtained her specialist qualification in otolaryngology and fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2018 and sub-specialised in the field of head and neck surgery. Currently, she is Honorary Associate Consultant in the Department of Surgery and the Department of Ear, Nose and Throat, Queen Mary Hospital.
