Aspiring doctors from the class of 2027 and 2026 were inducted into the medical profession with a White Coat Ceremony on 26 September 2021, marking an important milestone in their careers. Professor Gabriel Leung, Dean of Medicine, welcomed the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) students into the HKUMed and broader medical family, calling the ceremony the ‘merely the beginning of the journey’. The event, which is seen as a rite of passage for Year 1 students, was extended to Year 2 students to give them a face-to-face ceremony after the pandemic forced the 2020 ceremony to be held online.
