As one of the major projects in the China Neonatal Development Strategy (CNDS) 2030, the 1st Chinese Advanced Neonatal Education and Training Course (CHINA NET program) was successfully launched at HKU-SZH on 4 April 2022.

The program was jointly organised by China Neonatal Network, Canadian Neonatal Network, School of Nursing, HKUMed and HKU-SZH. The mission of this program include: as a train-the-trainer program; promote homogeneous top level neonatal nursing leaders in China; and meet the needs of specialised nursing and research.

The HKU-SZH is accredited as one of the 12 National High Quality Development Hospitals in China in 2021. The Neonatal Department is not only one of the critical care centers in HKU-SZH, but also one of the transportation centers in Great Bay Area. Professor Shoo K Lee Founder and Chair of CHINA NET Program, Honorary Chair of Canadian Neonatal Network has stressed as the programme leader on the pursuit of personal development and the provision of better service to the neonates and their families. HKU-SZH hopes that the trainees would benefit from this special training that lasted for three months.

The guest speakers were from Canada, USA, Mainland China and Hong Kong. The programme of CHINA NET has 12 modules which included Family Integrate Care (FiCare), Multi-discipline Team work (MDT), Newborn Resuscitation Program, Leadership, NICU Major Diseases, Treatment and Care, Research, Nutrition, etc.
