During the fifth wave of COVID-19, HKUMed pharmacy students volunteered for the drug delivery service organised by the Hong Kong Pharmaceutical Care Foundation (PCFHK). Two first year students, Martin Law and Hugo Yip, were tasked with preparing medications, as well as collecting and delivering drugs from hospitals to elderly homes and patients. The work required cooperation with hospital staff, community pharmacists and drivers. ‘I observed the extensive documentation and auditing which ensured a paper trail for deliveries, and also how some elderly homes were transformed – resembling quarantine centers, with staff wearing personal protective equipment.’ Martin added. He also noted that multidisciplinary professionalism demonstrated by these individuals has given him hope and inspiration that Hong Kong will persevere and withstand this pandemic.
