Aspiring doctors gathered on 18 September for their White Coat Ceremony, marking a rite of passage in their journey to becoming medical professionals.
Dean of Medicine, Professor Chak-sing Lau, officiated the ceremony for the 300 first-year MBBS students. After teachers had helped students to don their white coats, Professor Gilberto Leung, Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning), explained why doctors recite the Declaration of Geneva, highlighting their duty to look after themselves to deliver the utmost in patient care. Professor Lau then led students to recite the Declaration of Geneva at the presence of their parents and high school principals.
