Lecture Abstract

Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) is the third-leading underlying cause of death globally. Without effective antimicrobials available, our human health, animal and environment systems and security would falter. Professor Dame Sally Davies will share new data exposing the problem and drivers, whilst showcasing some of the local, national and global efforts from all sectors to tackle this ‘wicked problem’. Next autumn will see a High-Level Meeting on AMR at the United Nations in New York, which Dame Sally will also explain the significance of and how all attendees can lend their voices to this pivotal milestone.
